Fees & Cancellation Policy: My full fee for new clients is currently $80 for one hour. This is payable at the end of the session by cash or cheque, for which you will receive a printed receipt. I do charge for missed appointments unless I receive 24 hours’ notice. I do not charge for sessions when I am away, or when you are away on holiday. I do operate a sliding scale for those who wish to come regularly, but are truly unable to meet the full fee, and we can have a conversation about this.
Confidentiality: The therapeutic relationship we develop, and all that we discuss, are completely confidential, so it is important for us to be free of any social connections. I am registered with PCA Tas, the Professional Counselling Association of Tasmania, which is a member organisation of PACFA, the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia. I abide by their code of practice and ethics, and hold professional indemnity insurance. I undertake regular supervision of my therapeutic work, which involves discussing some client material, always anonymously, and my supervisor is a senior training Jungian analyst, with full membership of PACFA and ANZSJA/IAAP.
Appointments: Sessions can be offered during the week in north Hobart. You will be given a regular appointment time that will not change unless we both agree to alter it. I do not see new clients at a frequency of less than once a fortnight, and would generally recommend once a week. Twice weekly sessions can also be very beneficial, depending on the situation. It may sound like a lot, but two sessions a week can offer a deep sense of being held, and sometimes this is needed.
Location: I am based in Suite 3, Weeroona House, 326 Elizabeth St, North Hobart, which is about 15 minutes’ walk from the centre of the city. Weeroona House is situated in between Tasma Street and Burnett Street.
Transport & Parking: If you are coming by car, there is on street parking in Tasma Street and also in Condell Place car park (formerly the Chicken Feed car park) on Burnett Street.
Initial Consultations: During an initial consultation, I will take some personal details and listen to your story. I usually suggest we book in 4-6 sessions before making a longer-term decision on our work together.
What to Expect: A session will offer you the chance to speak about yourself in a safe setting. Together, we may begin to identify patterns in your life, and start to connect these with any difficulties or challenges in your life. Childhood experiences are fundamental to our development, and exploring the past will shed light on the present, and help shape the future. At times you may experience uncomfortable and painful feelings. You may need time for reflection and silence. You may wish to discuss what is happening between you and me, as your therapist. And you may wish to engage with sandplay or dreamwork as well as conversation. There will be no expectations on my part. Jungian psychotherapy is a very individual process, and each therapeutic relationship is unique to each client.
